A boy and girl banged on the windows of the room. They were locked in a room on the same street where we were having a kids club. Our summer missions team could not believe it. Two young adults, prisioners in a small room, with no bathroom, and no lights. An aweful stench comes through the window as the team members draw close. The boy and girl inside grab the heavy plastic sheets that cover the windows and bang them again. They bang faster and harder. Team members go to the window and look in. The girl inside tries to talk. She can only grunt sounds. One of the team members talks to the boy and girl. They offer them food. The small hands come up and take the food. One of the team members cries, she can't believe what she is seeing.
A neighboring couple, who houses one of our prayer groups, told us the children are not mentally retarded. They have been beaten, tied up, and abused for years. Actually, though they appear young they the boy (Oscar) is about 28 and the girl (Vicki) is about 23. Their mother, who is a protitute living at another location, apparently sends food. Four years ago their alcoholic father died, and they were locked in the room.
The neighbor couple made a strong attempt with a lawyer to help the captive youths. Another of our church leaders put in a report to the Mexican DCFS. Both attempts have failed.. The law gives preference to the mother who feeds them and provides a roof over their head.
We want to make public this atrocity. My administrative assistant is trying to contact a human rights good for help. We pray that God would give us connections with an international human rights group to appeal to the Mexican government for help.
If you know of anyone that could help, please contact us soon.

Highlights from the Campana this week
Kathy came home excited, she said. "Many of the mothers of the kids in the children's club in San Jose, asked me, during the club this afternoon, if there were activities for moms and families. They want courses for parents, and help for moms. Wow!"
Janet, a team leader from Christ Community Church in Ottawa, Il. said, "Last night we experienced real "church' in our group. First, one of the young adults openned up, then another shared something she has rarely shared. I (Janet) said to the group that my highlight was hearing, earlier in the day, the story of another of the young adults. That same young adult, who earlier in the day told me his story, then shared his highlight. His highlight was telling me his story earlier in the afteroon. As he told me his story, he said, he was able to remember many good things that God has done in his life."
